Me!

I went to Kanab High School in Utah where I grew up almost all of my life. I was always in some kind of extra circular activities such as FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America,) Drill team, Cheerleader, and the book club. When I was in high school I was knows as “the go to girl,” for makeup and hair whether it was Homecoming, Prom, or the bus ride to the next big game I was either doing formal up-do’s to fun colored highlights. I actually learned how to foil hair by watching my hairstylist and using my best friends bleach kit that her sister-in-law gave her (sister-in-law being a hairstylist.)I love “playing with hair” as my husband would say…J it is something that I not only enjoy doing but that I really love.

I met my husband in the year 2006 and shortly after we were married August 4th 2007. About a week after we got married we moved to St. Thomas Virgin Islands where I think I finally decided that I needed to do something that I knew I already loved doing.…. while I was in St. Thomas I found Hillary. She is this amazing woman down in the Islands. She is a Hair Designer that went to New York for her degree. She got me so excited about fashion and hair. I owe her a lot! She just had this passion that radiated through her work. You could feel her excitement when she was doing what she loved. This is how I wanted to feel. And so here I am 3 years later finally doing what I know I was made for. Cosmetology! I started school February 1st 1010 at Regency Beauty institute and it has been an amazing ride. I have been through Master designer qualifying month, and made it! Matrix Spread the Love and 2 salon fairs. The first Salon Fair I placed 1st with Supercuts top 10 picks, and the 2nd I placed 1st overall. What our salon fairs include is 2 hours to prep you model into the desired hair-do and a panel of judges decide who the winners are. Now the Judges are actually Salon owners from all over Tucson. Salons like Tony and Guy, SoHo, Supercuts, , Cost cutters, ect. Not only do they judge the contest but they also bring information on their own salons for future employment. So the students get a chance to kind of judge the salon owners. It’s one of Regency’s ways of job placement. Now that I am almost finished with school I just want to get out in the world, make some noise and do some hair. There are 2 salons that I actually want to work at one being “SoHo” and the other is called “The Source.” I can see myself being at both of these salons because of the people who work there and the atmosphere that surrounds them. I want to walk into a salon and feel like I can let everything that happened all week long can just sit outside the front door. I want to feel relaxed and at ease. Both of these salons offer such a dream. I feel like I am very passionate about what I want to do and who I am as a person and I hope that the people who surround me feel the same way. So here’s me in a nut shell…

All about the hair.

So just want to catch up on my life and the amazing adventures that have come my way. I am so excited about the last few months all starting in June of this year 2010. I go to an AMAZING cosmetology school called Regency Beauty Institute down here in southern Az, and they have these sweet programs. One is called Star Designer and the other is Master Designer. In order to get these great programs you have to work your butt off and bring in services and sell product. I am happy to announce that I made Master Designer.... Yeah Baby! I had to bring in $850 in services, $135 in add on services, and $150 in product. Now you might be thinking that it would be really easy to do, but I have to tell you that it wasn't. I am new to AZ and have no family, I only have a handful of friends down here and 1 month to do it in. Now I am only on the floor 3 days out of the week so you know I had to work at it. I got a certificate of recognition, a new pair of shears, a makeup kit, and the best part about all of it is, I got a FREE trip to Austin Tx Hair Show at the McCall Center. It was so amazing! August 26th-28th I got the opportunity to see what this industry is all about and learn from amazing Artists like Nick Arojjo, John Paul Dejoria, and all the Artists of Matrix. I honestly fell in love with hairstyling all over again. I especially fell in love with Matrix Color and the new products that they have like their fiber shuffle. I love it! I make my husband use it on his hair. lol. Poor thing has to be my little test model for hair products. ;) The beauty of having a loving husband... Well back to Matrix I wanna tell you about this little diddie that they are doing. Its called "Spread the Love," Its a chance to travel around the United States connecting with hairstylists and get trained by top Matrix Artistic Designers. Holy crow! I would love nothing more than to expand my talent and share with other people who LOVE doing what I do. I am applying for a once in a lifetime experience and I want to share it with everyone. I have done a lot to prepare for this. I did a You tube video, got a twitter account, and came up with some spazzzze tastic ideas. I am so excited I cant even concentrate I just want to rock it with Matrix. So I will keep posted on what is going on. Keep those fingers crossed for me. ;)
